Encourage students to share their career experiences in MyRed

Undergraduate research is just one type of career experience reported in the Experiential Learning Dashboard.
Undergraduate research is just one type of career experience reported in the Experiential Learning Dashboard.

Last year Huskers reported experiences with The Cosmic Ray Observatory Project, Zoom Communications, Henry Doorly Zoo, Special Olympics, USDA, JP Morgan Chase, Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, and more. Some of the roles Huskers held last year include video production intern, child advocate, software developer, pediatric volunteer, investments intern, veterinary assistant, event coordinator, mentor, and legislative page.

Recording the types of experiential learning Huskers engage in helps the university further develop these types of opportunities, which supports the N2025 commitment of innovating student experiences and preparing graduates to be life-long learners and contributors to the workforce. This data is also valuable for the university's ranking and accreditation.

Encourage students to share their career experiences from spring and summer if they haven't already done so, as well as future internships and co-ops, research and fieldwork, volunteer and shadowing, practicum and student teaching, and clinical experiences by:

  • Sharing the experience page at go.unl.edu/careerexperiences through Canvas, newsletters, and listservs.
  • Directing students to the Experiential Learning Dashboard in MyRed.
  • Offering extra credit to students who complete the survey.

Unique student data submitted through the dashboard is kept confidential. Only aggregate data may be released, allowing departments to promote the career and experiential learning of their students.

Questions about the Experiential Learning Dashboard and survey can be directed to Tracy Lungrin at tracy.lungrin@unl.edu in Career Services.
