The Center for Transformative Teaching has announced its inaugural Playposium, an engaging event dedicated to exploring the intersection of play, education, and technology in higher education.
The Playposium is March 12-14 at the Nebraska East Union. The aim of the event is to inspire educators to harness the potential of play-based learning to enhance student engagement and academic achievement.
“We are thrilled to host the first Playposium at Nebraska, an opportunity for educators to come together to explore playful approaches to teaching and learning,” said Julia Remsik Larsen, instructional designer and co-coordinator of the event. “Especially after the pandemic, it’s more important than ever to create connections in our classrooms that set students up for success. By integrating play into the curriculum, we can create dynamic learning environments that ignite curiosity, spark imagination, and inspire a lifelong love of learning.”
Highlights of the Playposium include:
- Keynote presentation by Lisa Forbes and David Thomas, authors of the “Professors At Play Playbook” and leading players in the field of play in education
- Interactive workshop exploring practical strategies for integrating play-based learning into various subject areas
- Showcase of instructors using educational tools and activities designed to enhance the learning experience
- Opportunities for educators to connect, collaborate, and exchange ideas with peers
- Video presentations for asynchronous participation
