Love Data Week is an annual, collaborative celebration that brings together the Big Ten Academic Alliance member universities to explore, share, and celebrate all things data. Taking place each February, this week-long event features a data competition that is open to students, faculty, and staff from Big Ten institutions.

In response to requests for Data Viz Championship details for fall course planning, the BTAA has announced the 2027 student competition will spotlight NCAA Women's Basketball.

Instructors are invited to use the competition as a required or optional activity for students, or as a make-up or extra-credit opportunity.

Entries will be due at the end of the fall semester, with campus winners announced in January leading up to the event, which will be February 12, 2027. There is no cost to participate.

Submissions can be created with software or physical objects documented in photos and videos. Visit the student finalist gallery to see data visualizations for the 2026 college fight song theme.

A link to the data set will be published online as soon as it is available. Sign up for the BTAA Love Data Week email list to receive a link in your inbox as soon as it is released.

Faculty and staff may submit either existing work that is publicly available, or visuals created using public data that highlight the Big Ten. Visit the faculty/staff gallery to see research, projects, and institutional insight submissions.
