When it comes to testing services, UNL instructors now have two convenient options in one centralized location. The Exam Commons (an online testing space) and Scanning Services (“bubble-sheet” processing) both make-up the Digital Learning Center, and together they provide a one-stop shop for academic testing needs in the heart of the Adele Hall Learning Commons.

To utilize the Exam Commons, instructors start by submitting an exam request at http://dlc-reserve.unl.edu. After dates are reserved, instructors carve out their exams using the Blackboard test engine, Canvas quiz engine, or MapleTA (an LTI tool which is functional in both Blackboard and Canvas). The Exam Commons then sends out emails to students for a reserved exam based off of its course roster to notify them that they can sign up for a testing timeslot. Finally, when test time comes along, the Exam Commons provides a secure, consistent, and wait-free testing space.

For Scanning Services (formerly known as Examination Services), the process starts when instructors bring in their bubble-sheet forms. The forms are then graded and analyzed, and services are provided for both exams and evaluations. When grading and analysis is complete, Scanning Services provides in-depth statistical reports that deliver interesting information like the hardest and easiest questions on your test, test averages, and student benchmarks.

Further information is available about both testing services at http://dlc.unl.edu.
