Engineering Mechanics will hold an open house, 3 to 5 p.m., Dec. 7 in the Biomaterials and Mechanotransduction Lab, room 129, Scott Engineering Center. Jung Yul Lim, assistant professor of engineering mechanics, will lead the event.
Information will be presented on Lim's team's work to control cell behavior using engineering tools for regenerative medicine.
Lim was recently awarded an AO Foundation Research Grant for a two-year project, "Controlling Nanotypography - ECM Environment for Enhanced Bone Formation with hMSCs." The project aims to enhance human mesenchymal stem cell differentiation toward bone cell phenotype by utilizing nanoscale substrate topographies and adsorbed extracellular matrix proteins.
Lim also participates in the "Army-UNL Center for Trauma Mechanics," collaborating with Ruqiang Feng on impulsive pressurization of neuronal cells to reveal the cell and molecular mechanism of traumatic brain injury.
Refreshments will be served at the open house.
