The UNL student body is equally liberal and conservative, but there are more Republicans than Democrats, according to a survey designed and administered by undergraduate students.
Students will present the results of the UNL Election Study on Dec. 7 and host a question-and-answer session at 12:30 p.m. in the Nebraska Union (room posted). The event is open to faculty, staff and students.
The survey was designed and administered by undergraduate students in Michael Wagner's Political Science 230 class. The class studied elections, political parties, and special interests.
The survey looked at campus issues, social issues and political issues. It also asked basic political knowledge questions like identifying politicians.
The survey is the first of its kind at UNL. All questions were written by students, the survey was programmed by students and students will present the results at the news conference.
The survey was sent to undergraduate and graduate students (approximately 24,500 students), and 2,569 students responded.
