'Humble Boy' to open Nebraska Rep season

The Nebraska Repertory Theatre, the professional theater at UNL, opens the 2010 summer season with Charlotte Jones' "Humble Boy," 7:30 p.m., July 7 in the Temple Building.

A comedy about broken vows and the joy of bee-keeping, "Humble Boy" features Felix Humble (played by Ryan Kathman), an astrophysicist that returns home to escape the gravitational pull of his mother.

Other cast members include Regina Webster, Sasha Dobson, Virginia Smith, Dale Westgaard and George Hansen. The production is directed by Geoffrey Tangeman; lighting design by Laurel Shoemaker; costume design by Janice Stauffer; scenic design by Ahna Packard; and sound design by Mike Smith. The stage manger is Elissa Shortridge and the assistant stage manager is Sarah Buse.

"Humble Boy" plays at 7:30 p.m. July 7-10, 16, 17 and 28, and at 2 p.m. Aug. 8.

Individual tickets for performances are $20 general admission, $18 faculty/staff/senior citizens, and $10 for students (with a valid ID). Season passes are $50 general admission, $45 faculty/staff/senior citizens, and $30 for students and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute members. Other shows offered in the Nebraska Repertory Theatre season are "Mauritius" by Theresa Rebeck and "Act a Lady" by Jordan Harrison.
