The University Singers, UNL's premier choral ensemble, will present a concert featuring five works at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 14 in Kimball Recital Hall. Tickets, available at the door, are $5 and $3.

The 55-minute concert opens with a choral fanfare written by David von Kampen, a master's degree student. The piece was written for the University Singers choir.

Other works include a short piece by Alessandro Scarlatti, a celebrated Italian composer born 350 years ago; a 1945 composition written by Belgian composer Joseph Jongen celebrating his son's release from a Nazi concentration camp and designed for a large chorus with solos, an orchestra of brass and the organ (featuring UNL professor Christopher Marks on the organ); a new work featuring the choir and trombone solo by professor Scott Anderson; and the American spiritual "I Can Tell the World" by Moses Hogan.

The chorus is conducted by Peter Eklund, director of choral activities and associate professor of music.
