The Player Development Program in the PGA Golf Management Program at UNL is designed to assist students to improve their golf game as they progress toward membership in the PGA of America. One of the requirements in our program is passing the PAT (Playing Ability Test), which requires students to achieve a minimum score over 36 holes played in one day.

This spring semester, the PGA Golf Management Program had five students who successfully passed their PAT. Students and the PAT sites include:

Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln, Nebraska on April 14th
* Michael Wachter - from Apple Valley, Minnesota

Mahoney Golf Course in Lincoln, Nebraska on April 28th
* Austin Dell - from St. Charles, Illinois
* Travis (TJ) Lounder - from Blair, Nebraska
* Kramer Samuelson - from Clarinda, Iowa
* Alex Sheehy - from Hastings, Nebraska

Congratulations on successfully passing your PAT, men!

We are fortunate to have top-notch PGA Teaching Professionals Jim White and Greg Johannesen working with our students. They come onto campus every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon February through mid-March (when our weather can be less than golfer friendly!) to give our students lessons in our teaching/simulation lab. For each one-hour lesson, three students are grouped together; each student gets 20 minutes of instruction and observes two 20-min lessons. In addition to learning how to improve their own golfing skills, this format allows the students to improve their teaching skills as Jim and Greg explain what to look for and why and how to use the swing analysis software during the lesson.
