Nebraska would not be the same without the incredible faculty at the university. This section highlights faculty that have been featured across campus in the last month for their research achievements, academic work, and journey to Nebraska.

Meet some of Nebraska’s incredible faculty, including those hard at work on social issues research, receiving international literature awards, and earning professional career distinctions.

New research, algorithm could predict development of social issues
A team of University of Nebraska-Lincoln researchers have received a new $1.6 million grant from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) that will allow them to dive deeper into a project that could help predict the development of social issues around the world. Computer Science and Engineering professors Leen-Kiat Soh and Ashok Samal will collaborate multiple professors across UNL and the U.S. on the project with international implications.

Obioma's new novel makes Booker Prize shortlist
Nebraska’s Chigozie Obioma has become one of only a handful of authors to have appeared on the Booker Prize shortlist more than once, and he’s done it with back-to-back novels. Obioma’s debut novel, “The Fishermen,” made the shortlist in 2015. He learned Sept. 3 that his second novel, “An Orchestra of Minorities,” had again been shortlisted for the Booker Prize, one of literature’s top international awards.

Dishari adds DOE, university awards to accolades
Shudipto Dishari has been at the UNL for only three years, but she’s already earning plenty of attention for innovative work in both the laboratory and the classroom. Dishari was recently named one of 73 recipients of an Early Career Award from the Department of Energy’s Office of Science.

Nebraska in the national news: August 2019
Three faculty members in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Space, Cyber and Telecommunications Law program were interviewed for national news stories in August. The stories were among 50-plus featuring Husker faculty, staff, students, alumni and programs during the month.
