Nelnet is looking for two candidates to fill open intern positions in its marketing agency. Nelnet is looking for an Account Services Intern and a Copywriting Intern. Both positions are paid and will give candidates real experience in the creative process.
Account Services Intern
Assist with the development of Nelnet’s marketing initiatives, including project coordination and copywriting, aid in the research and execution of social media initiatives, and provide metric reporting for Nelnet and its various lines of business.
Responsibilities:
Open new projects in Function Point project management system and assist with updates as needed
Manage small projects from beginning to end
Assist as needed with research (copyright searches, etc.)
Help edit copy and/or create copy where appropriate
Manage business accounts on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, LinkedIn and other social media sites
Understand and research trends and best practices in social media and make recommendations for implementation
Assist and manage social media campaign development through research, writing, and updating posts and pins
Maintain social media strategy documents as needed
Track, update, and distribute metrics reports for Nelnet’s lines of business, including daily, weekly and monthly
Maintain social media metrics reports, by pulling predefined metrics on a weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly basis
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Minimum 1-2 years in marketing or advertising field of study or equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE:
Any previous related experience with the outlined responsibilities is a plus.

Copywriting Intern
Work directly as a functioning member of a marketing team that operates like an in-house ad agency. As an intern, you will gain understanding of how a marketing department operates at a large national, publically-traded education services company. Our intern programs are on a 12-week cycle, where you’ll work within an open, collaborative environment. Our flexible hours allow you to gain experience while you succeed at your educational responsibilities. You will be in a fun work environment, learning about marketing and advertising from a diverse team of 30+. You will also gain a deep insight on a holding company with a house of brands structure.
To assist in executing marketing communications programs and projects by performing a variety of clerical and support duties within the marketing area, including copywriting and concepting support on marketing materials and editing and proofreading services.
Responsibilities:
Learn about Nelnet’s business, product/service offering, markets and competition.
Attend team meetings as determined appropriate by supervisor.
Proof/review work from the creative team approval for grammatical, technical and visual accuracy, and overall brand consistency.
Provide support for message development, copywriting, and editing for various print and interactive projects.
Ensure written messages are bold, strategic, persuasive, on-brand and on-strategy in all media.
Checks concepts and copy against the creative brief to ensure they meet strategic goals and objectives
Work in tandem with other creative writers and designers who may share responsibility on specific projects
Assist senior and associate copywriter in compiling information, secondary research and/or other data for various projects and campaigns.
Some clerical duties
Other duties or special projects as may be assigned.
Research and make recommendations for content for social media channels.
Pull monthly social media reporting metrics for multiple clients.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Junior or senior with 3.0 GPA average, working towards a 4-year degree in marketing, advertising or related field; prior internships ideal
