The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners is interested in producing an annual report. We envision the report would be completed by the time the next FY budget is completed which is around the first of August. Our fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30, but the budget isn't officially adopted until late August. However, by the end of the semester the budget process would be at the point it could be included in an annual report.
Lancaster County has 5 elected Board members (Board of Commissioners) and the following elected officials: Assessor/ROD, Attorney, County Clerk, Clerk of the District Court, County Engineer, Public Defender, Sheriff and Treasurer. The Board also appoints the following: Budget and Fiscal Officer, Community Corrections Director, Corrections Director, Mental Health Crisis Center Director, Emergency Management Director, Human Services/GA Director, Risk Management Director, Property Management Director, Weed Control Direction and Youth Services Center Director, in addition to appointing me and the Chief Administrative Officer.
Lancaster County and the City of Lincoln have several joint departments: Health Department, Human Resources, Information Services, Planning, Purchasing. We have Interlocal Agreements to help fund these departments. Directors are Mayoral appointments with input and approval by the Board of Commissioners.
Additionally we have some County employees at the Extension Office. We also fund the Veterans Services Office for the County, and the Veterans Services Officer is appointed by the Board after being recommended by the Veterans Service Committee. The Election Commissioner is appointed by the Governor but the County sets the salary.
This is an unpaid internship.
