Media and Communications Coordinator - Twin Platte Natural Resources District (North Platte, NE)

The Twin Platte Natural Resources District (TPNRD) in North Platte, NE is looking for a soon-to-be graduate to fill the role of Media and Communications Coordinator to coordinate media and communication activities for the NRD.

Media:
> Responsible for utilizing available media
> Responsible for news releases
> Maintain coordination with reporters and managers in all media outlets

Communications:
> Responsible for utilizing the Internet and social media to disseminate information
> Maintain the website
> Maintain the Facebook page and any other social media opportunities that may become available
> Responsible for planning, development, and implementation of educational activities for the schools
> Coordination of staff participation
> May include land judging, range judging, envirothons, etc.
> Communicate to students and teachers about Range Camp, Adventure Camp, and other natural resources camps, and the availability of scholarships
> Prepare publications such as brochures and pamphlets
> Prepare and mail the newsletter
> Arrange presentations for the staff
> Prepare PowerPoint presentations
> Prepare displays

Other Duties:
> Assist the staff in the promotion of their programs
> Take pictures at events
> Coordinate the awards program
> Attend all Board meetings and events
> Attendance at job-related meetings
> Assist at NARD events, including Husker Harvest Days, if time allows
> Others as assigned

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or public relations.

Experience:
Any combination of education, experience, and personal characteristics may be considered.

Skills and Characteristics:
> Proficiency in the use of a computer, photography and video equipment
> Use of word processing, publication layout and design, and power point presentations software desired
> Use of photo editing desired
> Public speaking
> Ability and initiative to plan, coordinate, and execute the duties assigned under only general supervision
> Ability to customarily and regularly exercise discretion, and independent judgment
> Ability to deal with varying circumstances and conditions, and to use sound judgment
> Ability to work well with people in executing the duties assigned
> Ability to manage multiple projects and programs

Other:
A current driver's license valid in Nebraska and a good driving record.
