Post-Graduate Opportunities in the UK
On Wednesday, February 26, 3:30-4:30 pm in the Nebraska City Campus Union, there will be an information session about Post-Graduate Opportunities in the UK such as the the Rhodes, the Marshall, the Churchill, and the GATES Scholarships. These are several extremely prestigious national overseas awards that are due next fall (most around early October), but which have a campus deadline this semester (April 15). All are for graduate study in the United Kingdom. All require a very high GPA and a focused career goal with an undergraduate career that has included extensive extracurricular, research, study abroad experiences, relevant internships, etc. All also require an interview – so you have to be personable as well!
The Rhodes Scholarship - for study at Oxford for two years.
The Marshall Scholarship - for study at any UK institution for up to two years. If you are proposing a research degree, you will need a letter of support from the UK institution.
The Gates Cambridge Scholarship - for one year of study at Cambridge (any field). It is an excellent idea to have a letter of support from an academic department.
The Churchill Scholarship - for one year of study at Cambridge in the STEM disciplines. You MUST have a letter of affiliation from a Cambridge lab supporting your application.
