Name: Nick White
Major: Mathematics
Year in School: Junior

Where are you from?

I’m from Lincoln, NE, lived here my whole life.

What gets you excited about Math?

Math excites me because it presents endless interesting problems. The satisfaction of proving something for certain and later using that fact always keeps me hooked.

Favorite math class or instructor so far? Why?

My favorite math class that I have taken was Number Theory. In the class we, in groups, worked together to prove everything we worked on and this was both a great opportunity to refine my proof skills, but also a great way to see other perspectives on how people go about solving problems.

What are you excited about doing after graduation?

I’m excited, and hopeful to go to graduate school to continue studying math!

What is a goal you have accomplished as a Husker?

One of my major goals entering college was to simply to learn as much math as I could. And with everyone around, and all the resources you have, it’s been easy to be a sponge and pick up as much as I can.

What do you wish you would have known when you started as a Math Major that you know now?

I wish I wouldn’t have been so scared of coding when I became a math major. Many languages aren’t difficult to pick up and it can really help you out there.

What do you hope to cross off your “bucket list” in the next few years?

One item I hope to cross off of my bucket list soon is to road trip up to Glacier National Park in Montana during Spring.
