Submit an extended abstract to the SSM special issue by Nov. 3.
Submit an extended abstract to the SSM special issue by Nov. 3.

School Science and Mathematics (SSM) has an open call for submissions for manuscripts about Research on STEM Research Partnerships. Since MTEP 2.0 networked improvement communities (NICs) are inherently STEM (math) research partnerships, many of you may find this call relevant. We encourage you to see all the details on the SSM webpage.

A few key details:

  • Submit an extended abstract (max 1000 words) by Nov. 3, 2025; after feedback, full manuscripts will be due Feb. 3, 2026.
  • SSM will accept research, review, and innovation to practice articles.
  • The sample topics pertinent to the special issue include addressing power dynamics/trust in successful partnerships, how the partnership handles turnover, how the partnership configuration contributed to research goals, methodologies for studying partnerships, and characteristics of successful partnerships.
  • Please feel free to use the partnership profile provided to your team leader by the MTEP 2.0 Research Hub, as well as your driver diagram, PDSA cycles, and/or Program Progress Survey responses to inform your manuscript.

If you are interested in writing something but would like support/partners, please contact MTEP 2.0 as follows:
  • Reach out to your MTEP 2.0 coach if you would like to be matched with another NIC that has a similar focus/problem of practice, so that you might write about that focus/problem of practice jointly/from multiple perspectives/contexts.
  • Reach out to Alyson Lischka (alyson.lischka@mtsu.edu) and Wendy Smith (wsmith5@unl.edu) if you would like to have a mathematics education researcher from the MTEP 2.0 Research Hub either (a) give you feedback as a "reviewer" before submission, or (b) co-author a manuscript with you.
  • Reach out to Meghan Leadabrand (mleadabrand2@unl.edu) if you would like copyediting support for your extended abstract and/or full manuscript.

Please do note that we cannot guarantee MTEP 2.0 will be able to provide you the requested support (e.g., Meghan won’t have time to copy edit 50 proposals in the next two weeks), but will do our best to help NICs publish their stories. Part of our support for you will be negotiating a timeline that can work on all sides to meet the SSM deadlines.
