Encourage your student to maximize their student fees by scheduling a visit with the Nebraska Medicine registered dietitian at the University Health Center. Their first nutrition counseling visit is no charge if they pay the University Program and Facilities Fees.

Nutrition counseling can help your student manage a variety of physical and mental health concerns, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Diabetes
  • Digestive disorders
  • Disordered eating
  • Fatigue
  • Food allergies and intolerances
  • General nutrition wellness
  • Heart health
  • High blood pressure or cholesterol
  • Hormone health
  • Kidney/renal concerns
  • Migraines
  • Obesity
  • Special diets (including vegetarian and vegan)
  • Stress
  • Weight management and much more

Nutrition counseling is available in-person and via telehealth on Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A doctor’s referral is not required to be seen. Students can schedule an appointment by calling 402.472.5000. Appointments are available over winter break on a first-come, first-served basis.

While the first visit is covered by student fees, each 30-minute return appointment will incur a charge, which can be submitted to insurance or paid out of pocket at a discounted rate if uninsured. Students enrolled in the university’s student insurance plan can receive all nutrition counseling visits for no cost in most cases.
