From creating a peer well-being coaching program, to earning four promotions, and on to placing 6th out of 500 teams in a global trading challenge, our students experienced a wide variety of accomplishments. Some of these accomplishments are featured below.

Supply chain management major, Charles Dutton, joined the 2020 Clifton Builder’s cohort and had the opportunity to grow his entrepreneurial mindset, while setting out to learn how to build himself in business and how to positively impact those around him. Selected in the spring of their first year, builders begin courses the fall of their sophomore year.

Senior supply chain management major, Jordan Seitz, was named top strengths coach by the Clifton Strengths Institute and earned the highest feedback from the first-year business students he mentored.

Junior supply chain management major, Amjad Awland Thani, completed the inaugural Summer Career Accelerator program coordinated by the Business Career Center and Clifton Strengths Institute. The program supported students who may have not been able to complete internships due to COVID-19, and helped them to advance their career development and gain targeted skills and experiences.

Amjad Awlad Thani, Brian Saravia Mejia, Cameron Claborn, Jacob Feuker, Peyton Walker, William Mowery, and Amanda Fuechtmann were supply chain management majors who earned top honors in the 2019-20 school year. They were among the 196 College of Business students who received one of the following awards: Clifford M. Hicks Scholar Award, LeRossignol Scholar Award, and William Gold Scholar Award.

Samuel Stott, junior supply chain management major, was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa. Stott was selected based on his campus leadership in scholarship, athletics, service, journalism, and speech.

Mohammed Sami Al Hasni, senior supply chain management major, earned his Employment Readiness Certificate, which is designed to help international students discover and develop skills to seek internship and job opportunities.

Sophomore supply chain management major, Elijah Merritt, served as a president of Brother2Brother, a community for students of color. He also mentored younger students and tried to help create opportunities for students to connect during the pandemic.

Peyton Walker, supply chain management major, helped Huskers by co-creating the University’s peer well-being coaching program, which officially became a resource in 2018. Walker and more than 30 trained undergraduate, graduate and professional student well-being coaches began educating fellow Huskers on how to use campus resources and create the life they want to live. The program experienced steady growth during Walker’s four years on campus.

Nicole Sum, supply chain management major, recapped her failures and successes from her time at the University of Nebraska. Hard work, a supportive sister, and a drive to improve pushed Sum to become a better student and a better athlete. She earned a spot on the College of Business Dean’s List for both the 2020 spring and fall semesters, and she made the women’s Professional Ultimate team in Minnesota.

Casey Christensen talked about how her analytical skills took her far. From her time in the business analytics graduate certificate program through completing her Master of Science in Business Analytics, Christensen worked her way up from analyzing customer returns to analyzing Spreetail’s cost of goods sold, as well as taking on more responsibilities at the company. She has now received four promotions and currently works as a senior cost of goods sold analyst.

Graduate student, Sgt. Joshua Johnston, utilized his supply chain certificate to advance his career in the Air Force and to contribute to the efficiency of logistics operations in the military. Using the certificate as a stepping stone, he has now enrolled in the MS in Supply Chain Management program and rolled the certificate credits into the master’s program.

Supply Chain Management major, Brian Saravia Mejia, discovered his career path during an informational interview he completed in BSAD 333. His personality shined in the interview, and he was offered a summer internship with Honeybee Robotics. After successfully completing his internship, Honeybee offered him a part-time job while he finishes his degree, and he has a full-time position waiting for him upon graduation. Honeybee Robotics is a research and development/manufacturing engineering company for earth and space.

Basher Ahamd Atayi, accounting major, serves as team leader at Kawasaki Rail Car. He attributes his understanding of pacing and bottlenecks to the supply chain courses he completed. As a current student in the Master of Professional Accountancy (MPA) program, he already has a job lined up after graduation.
