University of Nebraska students make the most of their D.C. internship through the D.C. Professional Enrichment Academy.

Every summer, students from the University of Nebraska start their summer internships with agencies and organizations in Washington, D.C. To support and enhance their success, the Washington D.C. Professional Enrichment Academy was launched as a collaboration of all University of Nebraska campuses. The program, in its fourth year, is a free, value-added program that brings Nebraska interns together once a week in the evening and connects them with prominent D.C. alumni. Their network also expands by connecting with, and getting to know, each other.

Through the Enrichment Academy, guest speakers cover topics such as "Policymaking in Congress" and "The News Media in American Democracy." Students will benefit from thoughtful mentoring and programming, expanding their network and learning to transition from college into their professional careers. All current University of Nebraska students interning in Washington, D.C. during the summer are eligible, including students from all four campuses and from any major or discipline, and in both remote and in-person internships. As in 2020, Academy activities will be held remotely.

Instructors whose students are interested in an internship in Washington D.C., virtually or in-person, should encourage them to connect with a Career Coach. Appointments at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln can be found in MyPlan with direct links found on the Career Services website.
