Zoom service updates

Zoom is the web conferencing tool used by the University of Nebraska that also integrates with Canvas. Zoom Pro licenses are available to faculty, staff, and students, who can use their My.UNL.edu credentials to log into the service.

Live Transcript (Live Captions)
Zoom recently added the Live Transcript (Live Captions) feature to the university's Zoom service. This can be enabled by the meeting host selecting the “Live Transcript” button on the Zoom meeting control bar. The live transcript is provided by machine-captioning and not ADA compliant for accommodations. This feature is not available on HIPPA Zoom accounts due to security requirements. Instructions for using the Zoom Live Transcript option are available at the UNL Zoom service website.

Zoom Cloud Storage
Due to the growing popularity and ease of recording Zoom meetings, ITS is running out of cloud storage for these meetings. ITS asks that users only make necessary recordings.

If you have Zoom recordings that are no longer needed, please delete them to ensure that necessary cloud recording may continue. This video shows how to download and delete Zoom videos.

ITS also asks that users turn off auto recording as a default on all meetings and only record necessary Zoom meetings. You can then turn on automatic recording on any meetings that need to be recorded, including recurring meetings. This video shows how to turn off Zoom auto record.
