Information Technology Services has acquired the online bubble sheet scanning solution Akindi, which is now available for instructors to use through Canvas. The tool was selected for adoption after receiving positive feedback in a fall 2021 pilot of two online bubble sheet scanning tools.
Akindi runs inside of your Canvas course, provides almost instantaneous results after you scan the sheets (meaning you no longer need to take physical sheets to the Scanning Services office), and gives you total control over the entire bubble sheet process.
Both Akindi and Scanning Services will be available for bubble sheet scanning needs in spring 2022. After finals week in May, Scanning Services will be decommissioned and Akindi will be the only option for bubble sheet scanning.
Email notification was sent to key stakeholders on Nov. 29 announcing that Scanning Services would be decommissioned in May due to substantial volume decreases.

How to use Akindi in your course.
- Go to “Settings” on the bottom of the Canvas course navigation pane.
- Select the “Navigation” tab at the top.
- Locate the “Launch Akindi” option toward the bottom of the page.
- Click the three dots to the right of “Launch Akindi.”
- Select the “+ Enable” option.
- Select the red “Save” button at the bottom of the page.
- “Launch Akindi” will appear on the left side of your Canvas course (visible only to you, not students).
