Libraries provides new tool for course materials

The Libraries Course Materials tool, provided by University Libraries, allows students convenient access to the materials they need to be successful in their courses. Students have basic functionality to view and access materials. Instructors have the same functionality as students, along with flexibility to maintain and edit their course reserve items (both physical and electronic).

To get started with the tool, instructors should contact Zach Eden at zeden1@unl.edu, or submit a form through Libraries Course Reserves to have the reserves list created and associated with their Canvas courses.

Throughout spring and summer 2022, the libraries will work to bring additional functionality of the tool online and to partner with instructors, instructional designers, and students in making the most of the system. The team will create tutorials, communications, a FAQ, and a phased rollout for future functions.

Libraries Course Materials is another tool in Nebraska’s efforts to connect students with affordable course content, including the wealth of resources provided through the University Libraries. A project team from University Libraries and Information Technology Services planned and implemented the new tool. Other libraries in the University of Nebraska Consortium of Libraries may consider future adoption.
