Since 2002, the university's Summer Institute for Online Teaching has provided preparation and training, as well as a campus-wide faculty learning community, focused on online teaching.
The five-week Summer Institute is designed to guide novice online instructors through the steps of course planning and development and explores the unique opportunities and challenges of the online learning environment. Many instructors with some online teaching experience have also found it valuable.
Experienced online instructors from a variety of disciplines facilitate the weekly online small-group discussions, answering questions, providing feedback, and sharing from their experiences.
There are a limited number of seats. Registration will remain open until April 12 and applicants will be notified by April 19 of their inclusion for the 2019 cohort.
