Content Strategist - Franciscan University of Steubenville (Steubenville, OH)

The Content Strategist implements long-term strategies for content of the University’s online presence to tell the Franciscan University story in a compelling and engaging manner, focusing primarily on the main marketing web properties: franciscan.edu, the giving site, outreach and evangelization sites, and other University microsites. To succeed in this role requires design sensibility to envision how content will be presented and distributed. It also requires a firm understanding of the online user experience and strong search engine optimization (SEO) and inbound marketing. This role is responsible for web content management updates and oversees other departments’ and offices’ web content updates to various University web platforms. The Content Strategist continually monitors the online endeavors of University departments to maintain branding standards, consistent messaging, and quality control of content.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Creates, updates, and maintains content on University online platforms consistent with University content strategy goals, brand standards, and compelling storytelling of the Franciscan University mission.
2. Oversees and assists other departments to create new web pages or update web pages on a consistent basis, which includes web update ticket tracking to ensure content is current and relevant to the target market; manages one student worker who assists with web updates.
3. Works with web development team and digital marketing team for identifying, planning, developing, and building new web platforms to effectively communicate information that supports the institutional priorities.
4. Creates and maintains editorial calendars, taxonomies, and metadata frameworks, and content migration plans.

REQUIREMENTS:
Must understand, support and embrace the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville and possess the following:

Work Experience:
> 1 – 3 years of experience strategizing online content efforts for large, complex organizations.
> Knowledge of University academic programs and campus life preferred.
> B2C marketing experience with content creation and multimedia approach, tracking data, and proven ROI.

Education:
> Bachelor’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications, Creative Writing, Computer Science, or related field.

Technical Skills:
> Strong writing skills for web platforms.
> Knowledge of SEO and Inbound Marketing.
> Basic understanding of user experience (UX) design.
> Basic proficiency with popular content management systems, including or similar to WordPress.

Workplace Factors:
> Sits or stands while working in front of a computer for long periods of time.
> Occasional evening and weekend work.
