Next Chapter at Nebraska

Next Chapter at Nebraska is a college- and career-readiness program delivered through the Nebraska 4-H program that helps students prepare for and succeed in college by providing the skills students need to reach their academic goals. The free program is open to all students entering their high school freshman year through upcoming senior year.

Lancaster County 4-H is offering a Next Chapter opportunity Monday, June 13 and Thursday, June 16 at the Nebraska Extension in Lancaster County conference rooms, 444 Cherrycreek Road, Suite A, Lincoln. Registration deadline is June 10. Chapters 3 and 4 will be offered later in the year.

MONDAY, JUNE 13: CHAPTER 1 will focus on SMART Goals, Discovering Careers, PSA & Elevator Speeches and Service Learning lessons. The first two lessons of the chapter will be from 9–11 a.m. and the last two will be from 12–2 p.m.

THURSDAY, JUNE 16: CHAPTER 2 will cover Time Management, Study Skills, Procrastination & Motivation and Communication & Presentation lessons. The first two lessons of the chapter will be from 9–11 a.m. and the last two will be from 12–2 p.m.

Scholars who participate in Next Chapter at Nebraska will:
• Participate in college and career preparatory activities and curriculum.
• Be prepared for a successful transition to college.
• Understand college admissions requirements and application steps.
• Develop their own resume and feel confident within interview experiences.
• Learn ways to engage and support their community.

In addition, upon program completion and meeting admission requirements, program participants can be fully admitted to the University of Nebraska. UNL admission fee waivers exist for those planning to pursue a degree at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
