Professor von der Dunk participated as chairman, speaker and panelist (and as the only legal expert) in an invitation-only symposium organized by the Radcliffe Institute of Advanced Study at Harvard University. The symposium took place on October 15 and 16 in Cambridge, MA and addressed the topic of ‘Space Resources: Promising and Problematic?’

On September 5, Professor von der Dunk participated in two panels with the British news station TRT World Media. The first panel covered space commercialization including space mining (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YW79BFfZwxc&t=1s). The second dealt with space militarization and the newly announced US Space Force (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Gxhe3yZobc).

The Newsy TV show “The Day Ahead” on October 9 featured a short interview with Professor von der Dunk on space travel and related legal issues. He is also quoted as having written the book on space law.

Professor von der Dunk joined another Knowledge@Wharton radio broadcast on the recent Soyuz launch vehicle failure and its implications on October 19.

On September 14, Professor von der Dunk held a keynote speech at SPUI25 in Spe, at the University of Amsterdam, on the issue of ‘Space colonization and the law’ (https://www.facebook.com/spui25/videos/744271985915466/).

Professor von der Dunk was quoted in a POLITICO Space story which ran on October 5 cooperation with China regarding a possible Moon base (https://www.politico.com/newsletters/politico-space). He briefly addressed particular legal hurdles facing such cooperation.

Professor von der Dunk was interviewed with regard to the statement of Vice-President Pence that the United States might stop ruling out orbiting nuclear weapons, pointing out that such a move would be both illegal and foolish. Professor von der Dunk lectured at the annual Summer Course on Space Law and Policy organized by the European Centre of Space Law in Helsinki, Finland, on August 28. He addressed the topics of national space legislation, with particular attention to law as a driver of a space economy.

Professor von der Dunk also presented a paper on ‘The European Union and Space – Space for Competition?” at the annual Colloquium on the Law of Outer Space organized by the International Institute of Space Law in the course of the International Astronautical Congress in Bremen, Germany, on October 2.
