At Scale: Strategies and Techniques for Large-Enrollment Courses is a Center for Transformative Teaching resource developed by Eyde Olson, senior instructional designer, that shows how instructors can create the very best experience for their students in high-enrollment courses.
The resource addresses everything an instructor might need to plan, deliver, and grade their students in this challenging area. From useful tips on structuring a course in Canvas, through inclusive practices, to detailed advice on appropriate assessment, the resource sets out in clear language what an instructor needs to do to be successful in large-group teaching.
"Large-enrollment courses are the most difficult in which to ensure equitable outcomes, to create a sense of real engagement among students, and to devise assessments that work at scale," said Nick Monk, director of the CTT. "The resource that Eyde has created provides instructors with real practical help in achieving these aims."
