Husker Dialogues Set for Thursday, September 6th

Husker Dialogues
Husker Dialogues

On Thursday, September 6th from 7-8:45 pm at the Devaney Center all first-year students are invited to attend Husker Dialogues, an event that focuses on inclusion and diversity in our campus community and which introduces tools students can use to engage in meaningful conversations about such issues.

Husker Dialogues will kick off with six students who represent a wide range of identities and experiences sharing their stories. Students will then move to circles of ten where they will share their responses and continue the conversation, guided by a facilitator. Last year, over 3,200 first-year students attended and reported the following outcomes:

· 90% agreed or strongly agreed the students' stories increased their awareness of diversity in the UNL community;

· 95% agreed or strongly agreed that the event modeled respectful ways to talk about diversity and inclusion;

· 85% agreed or strongly agreed that they felt more confident in discussing diversity and inclusion issues because of their attendance.

Students will check in with their NU ID cards, and a list of all attendees can be provided to instructors requiring proof of attendance.
