Winter and spring were interesting times for everyone in Nebraska. The more traditional winters like the ones I grew up with reared its wintery head this year. While the snow was often unwelcome at times, I think our various grass varieties in Nebraska very much appreciated the snow cover.

On a more positive note, we produced twelve newly minted PGA professionals from UNL’s December 2018 graduation and May 2019 graduation. Read more about these graduates in the enclosed articles including the wonderful internship experiences these students completed and the great facilities these students are ending up at for their first positions after graduation. WOW! There are some really cool places!

Academically, our students are doing great. We've had many students earn perfect 4.0 grade point averages in the fall and spring semester and a couple of our students were on both the CASNR Dean's List for both semesters. See if you can identify these high achieving students from the article. They can go low on the golf course and high in the classroom; that is the right combination!

This spring we had our first individual PGA golf management students compete in the 33rd PGA WORKS Championship in Florida. All three men represented UNL and the program very well. TJ Loudner finished in 6th place and both Nakul and Arihant played well on the Ryder Course at Port St. Lucie, Florida.

This spring we had PGA professionals Mike Schuchart and Alex Carper on campus for individual and group lessons for our students' player development program. Students were able to interact and work with two of Nebraska's finest PGA professionals. A special thank you to Wilderness Ridge for allowing Mike and Alex to spend time on campus working with our students.

In the area of recruitment, we continue to be challenged in identifying women and men who might be interested in a career in the golf industry. We realize our best recruiters for our program are our graduates who are out in the industry working on the frontlines in their facilities. I would ask that when you come across an individual who might be interested in our industry, ask her/him if s/he has thought about pursuing an education at UNL in PGA Golf Management. If anyone expresses interest or excitement about the prospect, please let us know. All necessary information is at our website which can be found below. The career opportunities are endless!

As always...Fairways and Greens!
