This spring, the PGA Golf Management Program at UNL participated in the 33rd PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship for the first time in our young history. Representing Team Nebraska were TJ Loudner, Nakul Paliwal, and Arihant Mittal. The championship was held on the Ryder and Wanamaker Courses at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
PGA WORKS is the umbrella brand for all workforce diversification programs that are part of the PGA of America's commitment to diversity and inclusion, one of the foundational principles in the PGA of America's Long-Term Strategic Plan. PGA WORKS is an intentional effort to evolve the demographic composition of the golf industry's workforce through a variety of programmatic efforts, including leadership development, fellowships, internships, scholarships, the PGA WORKS Career Expo and PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship. PGA WORKS programs are designed to appeal to, attract and retain diverse talent who are prepared to ascend into key employment positions across all lines of business within the golf industry and specifically the PGA of America.
The 33rd PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship came to a close Sunday afternoon for Team Nebraska. TJ Loudner fired a 75 for Round 3 and finished the Championship in 6th Place (77-72-75=224). Congratulations TJ!
Nakul Paliwal shot a solid 82 for day 3 and finished in 18th Place (84-78-82=244). Congratulations Nakul!
Arihant Mittal scored an 87 on day 3 including 3 birdies and finished in a tie for 23rd place (87-87-87=261). Congratulations Arihant!
It was a great experience and the students were able to listen to our PGA of America President Suzy Whaley, PGA talk about the many career opportunities in the golf industry now and for future PGA professionals.
