Instagram Local News Fellowship Program

Calling all social media whizzes with impeccable news judgement: Do you love Instagram? Do you have a knack for crafting compelling IG Stories and thoughtful posts? Do you care deeply about local news and the role social media plays in deepening relationships with audiences?

The Reynolds Journalism Institute at the Missouri School of Journalism, with the support of Instagram, is launching the second iteration of the Instagram Local News Fellowship.

Fellows will spend the summer working in newsrooms around the country that are eager to up their Instagram game! This may include honing an Instagram strategy, piloting a video series, boosting newsletter subscriptions, identifying new audiences, or all of the above. Each fellow will be paid an $8,000 upfront stipend for the summer.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:
> You have either graduated college in December 2019 or will graduate in May 2020.
> You have completed at least one newsroom internship OR have spent at least one full school year on your college newspaper staff.
> You are available and willing to relocate to where your assigned publisher is located for a full-time, two-month fellowship this summer (Program dates: 6/8/2020 - 8/14/2020).
> You are available and willing to attend the Fellowship kickoff event at Facebook's New York HQ (dates: 6/2/2020-6/3/2020). Your travel and hotel will be on us!
> You have a public Instagram account.
> You are 18+ and a US resident.

If selected for this program, you will receive official training from the Instagram News Partnerships team and Facebook Journalism Project, as well as ongoing mentorship and support.
