Below is information on some of the most used services and helpful resources available to faculty at UNL.

Canvas
Canvas is the Learning Management System at the University of Nebraska for all four campuses — UNL, UNK, UNO, and UNMC. Use your UNL credentials to log in to the LMS. How to Use Canvas is available in Pressbooks or the Help option in Canvas.

Zoom
Zoom is the web conferencing tool used by the University of Nebraska. Zoom Pro licenses are available to UNL faculty, students, and staff. Use your UNL credentials to log into the service. New users can open Zoom accounts at unl.zoom.us. Best practices on how to stay safe on Zoom are available on the NU ITS website.

Academic Video
The University of Nebraska System has selected YuJa to replace VidGrid as our video content management system following a successful pilot during the Spring 2022 semester. YuJa is already available for use by the UNL community through Canvas or at unl.yuja.com, and faculty can begin using it to create new video content.

VidGrid will remain available through the end of the spring 2023 semester as ITS works through the transition process. Faculty will not lose any existing VidGrid videos as a result of this change. More communication about content migration will be shared at a future time.

For more information, including details on YuJa training opportunities, visit its.nebraska.edu/video-content.

Data and File Storage
Microsoft OneDrive, the university's data storage provider, gives you one place to store, share and sync your work or school files.

  • Upload files from your PC or Mac.
  • Share files with others.
  • Give others permission to edit files and work on them at the same time.
  • Get to your files from anywhere, on your computer, tablet, or phone.

Sync OneDrive to your PC or Mac, so you can access your files even when you're offline.

To access OneDrive through your web browser, go to portal.office365.com.

Duo Instant Restore
ITS recently made updates to the Duo app to improve your two-factor authentication experience, including enabling Duo's Instant Restore feature, which will allow users who receive a new phone to transfer their authentication to their new device.

In order to use Duo Instant Restore, it is important that you follow the steps to turn on the feature before you get a new phone. Instructions on how to set up Duo Instant Restore are available for iOS and Android devices are available online. Note that Android customers must have both their new phone and old phone in hand to make the transfer work.

Other changes to your two-factor account, such as adding a new device, can be made by clicking My Settings and Devices on the Duo prompt screen. For more information, visit its.nebraska.edu/two-factor.

Turnitin
Turnitin provides instructors with a web-based detection service to identify suspected acts of plagiarism. As an available tool within Canvas, the application checks submitted documents against its database and websites to identify unoriginal content. It can also be used in formative assessment to help students learn to avoid plagiarism and improve their writing.

Open Nebraska
Open Nebraska encourages the use of digital textbooks and open educational resources to help make access to textbooks and course content more affordable for students. Learn more at its.nebraska.edu/open-nebraska.
