Beginning Nov. 5, users will have to be using version 5.8.6 or later in order for Zoom to run.

Zoom is instituting a new policy where users need to use a minimum version of the platform on their computers for it to run. The minimum required by Zoom on Nov. 5 will be version 5.8.6. Moving forward, Zoom will require a new minimum version every three months to ensure that users are using a sufficiently secure and up-to-date version of Zoom. The minimum version required for the upcoming three-month period will be posted online.

Users can check their version by signing into the Zoom desktop client, clicking the profile picture, clicking Help, and then clicking About Zoom. Those on version 5.8.6 or higher can enable automatic updates by going to the Zoom desktop client, clicking the profile picture, clicking Settings, clicking the General tab, scrolling down to the Zoom Updates section and checking Automatically Keep Zoom Up to Date. Additional instructions are available online.
