Reacting Consortium role-playing games can enhance student learning in a wide variety of disciplines.

The Center for Transformative Teaching and the University Honors Program have partnered to sponsor an institutional membership to the award-winning pedagogical tool Reacting Consortium. Instructors are invited to explore "Reacting to the Past" immersive, educational role-playing games for use in their classes. These games — designed by educators for educators — utilize innovative and award-winning pedagogy to teach students through immersive simulation.

Over 75 different games are available, with a variety of options for game duration, class size, and subject matter. "Reacting" games can enhance student learning in a wide range of disciplines, including history, politics, STEM, journalism, arts, law, human diversity, religion, and economics, as well as time periods ranging from prehistoric (3000 BCE) to present. Instructors will have access to all game resources and games in development. Also included in the membership are resources such as sample rubrics, handouts to orient students to the activities, and access to recordings of past workshops and events.

Instructors can set up an institutional account using their @unl.edu email address. Questions may be directed to Julia Remsik Larsen, senior instructional designer, at jremsiklarsen2@unl.edu.
