To improve user experience for educational technologies, single sign-on has been implemented for iClicker Cloud. This update aims to simplify the login process for both students and instructors, enhancing security and efficiency.
With the introduction of SSO, students can now access iClicker using their university credentials. This integration eliminates the need for separate usernames and passwords, reducing the risk of forgotten login details and ensuring a seamless user experience. On the login page, simply go to the institution drop-down menu, select “University of Nebraska-Lincoln” and click “Go.” This will take users to a page where they can log in with their university credentials.
If faculty or students have used iClicker before, iClicker will attempt to match them to their existing account when they log in with single sign-on. If it cannot find a match, iClicker will ask if they have an account set up under a different email. Matching SSO credentials to an existing account will ensure that users retain all of their data.
As a reminder, iClicker Classic was deprecated last fall, and iClicker Cloud is the current iClicker service available for faculty to use in their courses. With iClicker Cloud, students can participate in iClicker polls via the web or mobile app, or may purchase and use a physical iClicker remote from the campus bookstore if they prefer that option. Additionally, if instructors use the “Attendance Only” feature of iClicker Cloud, it is free for students and doesn’t require any purchases.
Instructors have the option to use their existing iClicker base/receiver and blue instructor's remote or choose a mobile-only experience by downloading the iClicker Instructor Remote app. Additional information is available online.
iClicker Cloud introduces enhanced features to elevate classroom interaction, including advanced polling options, group work, assignments, attendance with or without geolocation, quizzing, and roster and grade sync LMS integration. An internet connection is required for iClicker Cloud. A recorded training presentation from last semester that iClicker provided for Academic Technologies about using iClicker Cloud is available online.
One-on-on training sessions with Melissa O’Brien, a representatives from iClicker, can also be scheduled.
