JOMC 191-102 Trusting the News in a Hyper-Polarized Era

Seventy-four percent of Americans can’t tell the difference between news fact and opinion according to the Pew Research Center.
Small wonder many of us are confused as we try to wade through a media jungle where facts often compete with a flood of opinion, bias, and distortion.

In this course students will learn how to analyze and rate the news stories you read for reliability and bias. Journalism professor and veteran journalist Barney McCoy will teach how to separate fact from fiction as students become better-informed news consumers.
