This course will provide students with working knowledge of tools and concepts that are central to understanding the complex structure and diversity of plants. Topics include characteristics of plant groups, specific terminology necessary to recognize the top three plant families in the Great Plains, usage of technical keys, and the ability to communicate with proper vocabulary and photographs to various groups (e.g., stakeholders, plant experts). Ultimately, this course aims to provide the skills necessary to interpret the vast array of morphologies that exist among the second largest Kingdom Plantae’s flowering plants.
