AGRO 496-102 Outreach Communication

Increasingly, policy makers and members of the general public are actively seeking to engage with scientific information and concepts to inform their decision-making and actions. Outreach communications (AGRO 496/896) will provide students with the opportunity to practice the process of creating public outreach materials, including handouts, websites, podcasts or activities that answer some of the public’s frequently asked questions. For graduate students, the focus will be on answering questions related directly to their research. Students will learn how to create materials that can help policy makers and members of the public understand multi-faceted answers to complicated questions in a digestible and appealing way. The course is offered through the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, but our multidisciplinary team will gladly accept students from a variety of scientific or engineering backgrounds. For more information, please contact Christine Booth (cbooth2@unl.edu) or Meghan Sindelar (msindelar3@unl.ed). We look forward to welcoming your students to our online session in December!
