In the past this position would be called News Director, but as the industry needs change for a local media company, so does this position. Platte River Radio in Hastings, NE is hiring for a Community Coordinator-News.
Responsible for:
> Building relationships with local governments, first responders, business leaders, non-profits and organizations in the Tri-Cities, especially in the Hastings area.
> Gathering, writing, and delivering local news on our AM/FM stations, online, and social media.
> Conducting mid-length interviews with newsmakers and community members about important issues and happenings in our area.
> Working on public service campaigns to promote partnerships between Platte River Radio and our community.
The successful candidate for this position enjoys being in the middle of the community conversations from breaking news to its culture. An outgoing, people-person will excel in this role. Everyday has the potential to be different with changing news and events of the week. We want someone who wants to talk to all people!
A curiosity and desire to learn is a must. Strong writing and speaking skills are necessary. This is a mostly in-studio office setting, however some outside appearances or press conference attendance will happen. A driver's license and good driving record are needed.
