Tau Sigma, a national academic honor society for transfer students, awarded two national scholarships to members of the UNL chapter.

Yen Ven (Vivian) Loh, a senior management major and Rose Walsh, a senior elementary education major, were awarded scholarships of $750 and $500, respectively, for their academic achievement and involvement in the chapter, the university and the community.

With Loh’s and Walsh’s scholarships, Tau Sigma of UNL reached a milestone with 10 national scholarship winners in nine years. UNL has the only chapter in the United States with a scholarship winner in each of the nine years of competition. Every application UNL’s chapter has submitted has earned a scholarship.

Only chapters with new membership during the last calendar year of greater than or equal to 100 are allowed to nominate up to two members; UNL met that criteria by inducting exactly 100 new members last year.

UNL's Lambda Chapter of Tau Sigma was founded in 2003 and is the only chapter listed within the state of Nebraska on the Tau Sigma website, tausigmanhs.org.
