Content and Video Production Intern - Hail Varsity/Hurrdat (Lincoln, NE)

If you ever wanted to know what it takes to stand out on a crowded beat, this is the job for you. We are looking for a content and video production intern to assist with various Nebraska Athletic beats, including football. During the course of the internship, the content and video production intern would be assigned to game and practice coverage, special projects and podcast assistance for both the website and social media. There will be other duties as assigned, of course, and the content and video production intern will work with the Hail Varsity management team closely to determine assignments as they come. You will also be surrounded by a close-knit editorial team committed to helping you provide the best coverage possible.

Primary responsibilities will be completed in Lincoln and on location when covering sporting events. Travel will be reimbursed for work outside of a 50-mile radius of Omaha or Lincoln. Duration is two semesters, beginning immediately and going through May 2022.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
> Shoot, edit and post video, including press conference, highlights and original content (including hype videos, features, etc).
> Discover new stories. You don't have to live behind the camera (unless you want to) but we'll expect you to develop original content and bring it to life.
> Repurpose content, including podcasts, into video pieces. This includes quote graphics to promote podcasts on the Hail Varsity podcast network.
> Collaborate with our team. While you'll own the day-to-day of Hail Varsity's video operations, we're here to help.
> Work in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple projects at once. Sports moves quickly, and we have to move quickly with it.
> Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
> In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate degree at an accredited institution and be able to provide documentation for confirmation
> Some experience on a sports beat, though if you lack that don’t let it stop you from applying. We’re open-minded.
> We will need to see some clips, though.
> To cover the beat adequately, the candidate will need to be located in Lincoln.
> Experience with a computer is pretty much a requirement, as well as proficiency with various software including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Audition.
> Experience with video editing and production is also required. College-level related coursework is not necessarily required, but would be beneficial.
> Strange ideas that can help our coverage continue to grow. Passion projects are appreciated here (within reason).
> A knack for getting things done. There are deadlines. News breaks at odd hours. Recruits commit on holidays. The right candidate knows that coming in and is up for it.
> A shared excitement over the fact that we all at one point—perhaps long ago, perhaps not—dreamed we’d get paid to cover sports and share stories. This job, like all jobs, challenges that spark from time to time, but we have worked to build a team that remembers—especially in those times—“we get to do this.”
> Available up to 30 hours per week

Hail Varsity has covered Nebraska athletics since 2012. We publish 10 monthly issues a year with a double issue in June while producing original web content, podcasts and video.
