Marketing & Communications Specialist II/Videographer - Nebraska Game & Parks Commission (Lincoln, NE)

Under direction of the public relations manager, develop and implement a video strategy to help engage, recruit and retain customers as well as inform and educate Nebraskans about outdoor recreation. Produce professional quality video and broadcast productions matching Nebraska Game & Parks Commission's (NGPC) brand standards.

Examples of Work:
> Identify video needs for hunting, fishing, wildlife, parks, staff recruitment.
> Scout locations and spend time in the field capturing HD quality video of big game, upland game, waterfowl, non-game wildlife, fishing, parks, habitats, projects, special events and NGPC staff at work.
> Shoot and produce professional quality videos of wildlife, parks, fishing, boating and outdoor recreation activities for broadcast news, social media, advertising, public relations campaigns, sport shows and other media as required.
> Develop working relationships with broadcast media professionals across Nebraska. Serve as a resource for broadcast news media, providing video footage as needed.
> Work with marketing and public relations team to identify video subject needs.
> Find sources and conduct interviews.
> Review projects with supervisor and internal customers to make sure projects are on-brand and effective.
> Work with broadcast media as needed; may appear on broadcast news stations.
> Identify and implement a video storage options and organizational strategy. Organize and maintain video files.
> Develop a strategy for using the agency’s YouTube Channel for outreach and education.
> Identifying best practices for video technology including shooting and editing.
> Identifying video trends in social media and work with digital media manager to implement new tactics when appropriate.
> Ability to help create and distribute podcasts.
> Serve as key public relations representative for the Commission, promoting participation in outdoor recreation. Makes public appearances as needed.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, advertising, graphic arts, digital media, videography, or related field and at least one year of experience in coordinating, planning, and managing public relations/publicity campaigns, mass media communication activities and/or public information programs. Required experience may substitute for the education on a year for year basis.

OTHER: Ability to lift 50 pounds and ability to traverse Nebraska’s outdoor landscapes. Outstanding ability to produce professional-quality videos including composition, lighting, etc. Thorough knowledge of computer operating systems, video and editing software including Premiere or Adobe Final Cut Pro X, and other Adobe Creative Products. Understanding of best practices in media relations, public relations and customer service. Thorough experience in outdoor-related topics including travel, camping, wildlife, history, state parks, hunting and fishing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
> Experienced in videography and editing in a professional environment.
> Required knowledge of Nebraska’s game and non-game species, fish, hunting, parks, boating, geography and outdoor recreation in general.
> Storytelling through video.
> Must have ability to travel across the state throughout the week as needed.
> Excellent communication skills.
> Must be able to work in a team environment, accept project feedback and adapt if needed.
> Must be organized, track projects and meet deadlines.
> Ability to create and share video files in multiple formats and media.
> Knowledge of modern video editing practices including for social media, Instagram and vertical shots.
> Thorough knowledge of videography and ability to produce professional-quality videos including composition, lighting, sound etc.
> Familiarity with video file formatting, Adobe Creative Cloud, including Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro X, and Microsoft Office products.
> Ability to find and use royalty-free music that matches NGPC’s brand and the content of the video.
> Ability to apply closed captioning to video productions.
> Ability to traverse landscapes with equipment to capture required video of wildlife and diverse landscapes.
> Ability to travel for required video shoots across the state.
> Must be comfortable speaking on-camera as spokesperson for the agency, if needed.
> Must be comfortable and experienced at interviewing others and telling stories through video.
> Ability to adapt to changes with technology in video and social media and apply them as appropriate.
> Keeps up-to-date with current videography and design trends.
> Ability to travel for required video shoots across the state.
