Sport Marketing Intern - Omaha Sports Commission (Omaha, NE)

Organization Overview:
The Omaha Sports Commission continues to build our reputation as a premier sporting community by attracting national and international sporting events across all ages to the Omaha area. These events strive to positively impact and engage the local community. The organization’s resume includes NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships, USA Baseball vs Japan, U.S. Figure Skating National Championships, U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming, U.S. Olympic Team Trials Curling, and Curling World Cup.

Internship Overview:
The Omaha Sports Commission is looking for an intern from September - December, with an option to continue through the Spring Semester and even next Summer for the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials.

The position is paid position and will require the following:
> 12-14 weeks of employment, with the option for continuation post the fall semester
> 15-20 hours per week (work hours are flexible per student’s class schedule and mutually agreed upon by intern and employer)
> Days of operation are Monday – Friday but may require working weekends surrounding event execution

Roles & Responsibility:
> Assist in the creation, monitoring, and reporting of content on social media and marketing outlets
> Create Schedule of social media postings
> Update the Omaha Sports Commission website
> Collect data from marketing campaigns
> Assist with membership initiatives, ensuring a current database, supporting membership retention and identifying new members
> Conduct research and identify leads for new events
> Identify and schedule promotional speaking or booth opportunities at various community events
> Update various databases within a CRM system
> Complete routine office tasks including mailings, copying, local deliveries
> Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Applicant should be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program (or equivalent) within a related field of study. Those applying should be project and detail oriented, able to meet strict deadlines and possess a strong work ethic. Exceptional communication and written skills are desired. A general working knowledge of Microsoft Office is also desired. Background/interest in social media. A general working knowledge of and experience in working with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is preferred.

Applicant should be able to meet the physical requirements of standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time, and have an ability to lift 50 pounds. Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
